Joris Dommels is a 28 year old Dutch director who's making his first steps

Why filmmaking?

Filmmaking is a great way to let all the crazy ideas in your head come to
Life.

My work is about...

People living in their own world. My characters are usually completely
Weird, reasonably alienated or just a bit quirky. Our society creates these
People and they fascinate me. Plus I like to play with the audience. Let
Them wonder about what the hell is really going on in these weird films.

New Media; a challenge for film makers?

I think internet is a great way for makers to get their work out in the
World. People all over the world get to see your work without the use of
Television or cinema's.

Individual film making or co-operation?

Co-operation. A good cameraman and editor really can uplift your idea.
Besides other people can give you new input and a fresh look at your ideas.
Filmmaking is a group process overseen by a (couple of) individual(s).

Plans and dreams...

Someday I would like to direct full length movies. Until that day I'm
Directing commercials, short films and music video’s.

Digital or classic?

Digital video gives low budget film makers an opportunity to make their own
Movies in a reasonable good quality. And eventually the technique will catch
Up with film so even better quality filming will be available. But for now there's nothing more beautiful then filming on film.
