The Market Ana Husman
Market shoppers use all of their senses when trying to ascertain whether the groceries are local or imported. The privileging of local produced over imported goods is ever present regardless of whether or not the groceries are actually better, this follows to lines of argument - that by buying Croatian produced goods they are supporting Croatian agriculture and that domestic products are more familiar and more tasty, although it is not the origin of the goods but the method of its production that counts. They rather choose to buy local goods simply because they are "ours, Croatian, local”, and not some foreign, unfamiliar and alien foodstuff which is therefore deemed of lesser quality. For the preserves traditionally prepared to last throughout the winter, only local production is considered worthy, it has to be treated, and conserved, for it to be safe, and caught at its best moment of maturity. This process demands that all foreign bodies be destroyed, that only the best pieces are used, those without fault, all this need be cleansed for the preserved to be safe from all decay.Edition: 3rd edition 2007 | Category: Documentary | 00:09:32

Brokedown Palast Ole Tangen
Called the ugliest building in Berlin, the Palast der Republik is one of the last remaining relics of the former GDR in the heart of the city. But after the Berlin and German governments voted to tear the building down, a number of Berliners rose up to save the Palast.
Brokedown Palast not only documents this political debate but is a meditation on the building, it’s city and the residual emotions and sentiments over this fading chapter in modern German history. Edition: 3rd edition 2007 | Category: Documentary | 00:17:00

The Los Angeles River Sarah Lorenzen
This 27-minute documentary film about the Los Angeles River weaves together citizens' voices, river imagery, historical documents, and visuals from the city's proposed Master Plan. There are many big questions associated with revitalizing the river. What should be done in the channel? How to make it safe? How to balance environmental needs and urban development? How can the city expand the parkland? Who's going to pay for it? What can be done to prevent residential displacement? The film's goal is to explain how current and past efforts have shaped the debate about what the river and its adjacent areas should look like. Cambodia's Forgotten Children Matthew Wenham
Between 1975 and 1979 the Khmer Rouge devastated Cambodia in what is now considered to have been one of the worst humanitarian disasters of the 20th century. More than 30 years later, Pol Pot’s legacy lives on. Cambodia’s Forgotten Children is a unique insight into the problems facing young people in Cambodia’s capital today. The film will take you to Phnom Penh’s poorest areas, explain why so many children are at risk from exploitation and introduce you to the Non Government Organisations (NGO’s) trying to help. Touching interviews and hard-hitting footage will introduce you to an underprivileged and vulnerable youth, whose spirit and resilience shine through against all odds. This is Chris Cook and Matt Wenham’s first full-length documentary. It was made and funded entirely but them with the support of their families, Southampton Solent University and several media companies who helped out with equipment. It started life as a university project following a brief but inspirational trip to Cambodia in summer 2005. However, the idea has always been to create something that will raise awareness of the many problems facing Cambodia’s Children and to explain how it is that the legacy left behind by the Khmer Rouge regime continues to hinder Cambodia’s progress. The film was shot in January 2006 with the assistance of the South East Asia Children’s Mercy Fund (SACMF), Vulnerable Children’s Assistance Organisation (VCAO), Jeanine’s Children Association (JCA), Healthcare Centre for Children (HCC), Lighthouse orphanage and Playsafe youth centre.

From the inside out Jan Willem Meurkens
Deep in the Amazon of Colombia the indigenous tribes understand life with the myths of the spirits, but they are not just stories. For the tribes jaguars and anacondas do not embody but actually are the spirits of their ancestors. Stories about the spirits are also models for good living and help them to maintain balance in the world managing natural cycles of which they are apart. The tribes live out the myths applying them to changing circumstances and they make no distinction between myth and life, magic and reality.
