Who is Melissa Grey?

Works include live electroacoustic performances, field recordings, questionnaires and sound maps, media installations and music and sound for radio, film and video, as well as concert works for ensembles and chamber orchestras.

Your film is about?

The narration, following the tone of Proust’s Questionnaire, is a series of questions.

How did you start with film? And do you have an educational background in art or film?

Music Composition. Media Studies. Sound Studies.

How does content relate to the form of your work?

The process of building the movement of the one-degree rotation provided hours of mechanical repetition.

How important is sound in film, and if you use sounds, do you create your own or use existing?

The score for Self Portrait includes flute, harp and violin and two narrators.

Nowadays everyone with the right equipment can create videoart, good, bad or ugly?

Self Portrait is an audiovisual exercise using amateur software.

What is your next project about?

Currently collaborating with Alphabet City and John Knechtel on the new production of PSYCHODRAMA, for the WATER festival, Toronto, Nov 2009
