Lenka Klimesova
Lenka Klimeová (1986) is a Czech multimedia artist. Her creation focuses on the topics as body, gender, feminism, society, self-portrait and found footage. She received a BA in Intermedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Ostrava in Czech Republic and is currently enrolled in MA studies in Video and Multimedia at the AFAD (Academy of Fine Arts and Design), Bratislava, Slovakia.
She particularly researches social customs, rules, stereotypes and is interested in new media, technology art and works mainly with video, photography, interactive object and installation. Most topics are expressed by own artist performance.
Textual and symbolic part of her creation searches for hidden meanings in a language and explores their potential as word play. She processes information that encounter in her environment and uses it unaltered as well as reinvent meanings for it. On some occasions her interventions with the environment create entirely new meanings, often with a sense of irony.
Lenka also shows her works abroad for example in Austria, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Turkey and United Kingdom in festivals and exhibitions as Ars Electronica, Amber Festival, Optica Festival, Darklight Festival, Multiplace, Touch Me Festival, Artefatto and others. She participates in workshops with personalities as Stahl Stenslie, Anthony Auerbach, Hanna Hacker, Rosa Reitsamer, Rita Bakacs, Erzsébet Barát, Darius Fodczuk and often attends various conferences, lectures and competitions. In 2009 received a Honorary Mention of Prix Ars Electronica in Interactive Art category.
