Danielle Itzhaqi & Dror Shohet
My name is Danielle Itzhaqi, I'm from Tel-Aviv, Israel.
I'm an emerging artist, and my expertise is intaglio printing- dry point etching and alternative independent printing techniques. I like to work on projects that include printing but the final result is not always a print, and to combine etchings with collages, sculptures, video, photography, installations and performances.
'''Haya'''is a collaboration project with'''Dror Shohet''', a good artist and a friend. Dror is a photographer and a film director who is specialized in documentary films.
We combined elements of documentary films with a fantasy of a film happening in an etching and came up with this short film, very experimental, that was part of a bigger installation that included as well as the film, all the etchings which I made for the film, a series of 15 etchings built into little movie sets, or little rooms, inspired by my granny's house, who was also the big star of the film.
After some years in Amsterdam, I return to Israel and was living with my 87 year old Austrian granny for a period of a year and a half, a time in which i was drawn into a total different rhythm. Taking a walk together on a little street of 20 Meters, takes about half an hour, old fashioned Jewish traditions, everything is slow, old, and Austrian. I was very influenced by that and started drawing her and her house all the time. The idea to combine etchings with video was an old desire I had and I waited for the right concept for it. To combine my granny with a doco and etchings felt right and deep.
Apart from this project, I like to get involved with long art projects and research, which I am never sure of the way they gonna end. I try to collaborate with as many and different artists and different people as I can, all performance artist as well as dance, circus and acrobatics, film, magic, lectures, pole dancing, fashion, music, theater and some graphic designers.
