Porcje Rosołowe - Fungus and sequoia

Description:
Audiovisual installation Grzyb i sekwoja refers to the simplest of means – it uses sound and image in their primary sense. The musical composition is a combination of the two ways of viewing the sound. The Fungus is a micro-organism in which the soft particles, like chains of saliva rise and fall in the wind. Sharpness and clarity of sound and engaging in internal reactions cause a kind of sense of narrative here, and even dramatic, which in turn leads to the impression of watching through a magnifying glass, barely perceptible movement of the molecules. Sequoia is a Fungus seen from a distance – overlapping particles leads to strong density, so that the ear catches only a scattering resonance in the residue of countless micro-entities. The detail gives way to color and spaciousness, which brings the work similar to sound sculpture. In conclusion, conscious of the means of reduction leads to a fresh perspective on the issue of tripartite relationship: the subject – image – music.
Method of impact:
Even though the sound layer treated in isolation from the visual layer (and vice versa), stimulate the recipient in a fairly traditional manner, it produces a summary of their parallel associations based on ephemeral consciousness seizures. The installation tries to go beyond the kind of reference image and sound frequently practices in visual art. Image does not link to music through building in narrative time achieved by introducing the subject into motion, which is common in the visual arts. Sequentially displayed pictures are not selected on the basis of image associations and meanings, they do not create a common story. Music introduces its domain, or temporality, into a single photo. Within a picture, time (carried by a suitably constructed music) produces vibrations inside a static so far image, incorporates traditionally comprehended motion, thereby reversing the contemporary construction of meaning in music visualizations. In the collection of Fungus were gathered images of an organic nature, which have a rich and diverse texture and structure. You will find weaving sea and the eroding rocks, vegetation, both seen up close, as well as pictures of typical landscapes. The collection Sequoia is dominated by images of abandoned cardboard architecture, static moments of reality, which under the influence of music gradually becomes unreal. Music was designed so that only partially relates to the picture - you will not find here the obvious and direct allusions; installation’s aim is to run freely the circulating vortex of ideas and concepts.
