Cristina Pavesi - Kronos
Emotion of a metaphorical journey: the day alternates with night, the rain with the sun and the seasons take turns.
The sun, and the moon as a counterpoint, are inserted in a continuous time that chasing its tail.
Emozione di un viaggio metaforico, il giorno si alterna alla notte, la pioggia al sole mentre le stagioni si avvicendano.
ll sole protagonista, e la luna come contrappunto, sono inseriti in un tempo continuo che si morde la coda.

In videos I use images shot during personal experiences such as trips, visits and shots of memories; cutting and replacing them I try to recreate a collage, that’s how the series of video "E.", "e" standing for experience was born.
I believe that work does not have roots and foundations if it does not came from a real experience, with this I certainly do not mean to give importance to the contingent, but I rather start from the particular to reach a broader meaning. What is important to me is the reworking of the experience to find an order and a sense of things. The video itself has the ability to encompass the temporal evolution, the appearance of the passage of time and the quintessence of the stored experience, this is what I want to express.

Who is Cristina Pavesi?
Cristina Pavesi [db] is an artist and video artist who lives in Milan, ItalyWhat is Kronos about?
The video Kronos is a philosophical meditation, a representation of circular time, of alternation of the seasons, time always returning more or less in the same way. So, the day alternates with night, the rain with the sun and the seasons follow their course. The emotion comes from the metaphorical images such as the sun and moon placed in a continuous tail-chasing time. How did you start with film? And do you have an educational background in art or film?
My background is art, I started in 2002 to compose very short videos created as visual metaphors in movement, I felt that the expressive possibilities of the video were endless.Could you explain how you work, what themes or concepts you use and what is important to you?
The concept of Jung’s transformation helped me understanding that everything can be transformed, getting another aspect new things can develop expanding the number of meanings. In videos I use images shot during personal experiences such as trips, visits and shots of memories; cutting and replacing them I try to recreate a collage, that’s how the series of video "E.", "e" standing for experience was born.

How important is sound in film, and if you use sounds, do you create your own or use existing?
The sound is very important in my videos, it is also a source of inspiration, I’d like to create it by myself, but then I look around me since there are so many yet unknown good musicians who agree to lend their music to my work!Where would you place your work; cinema or art. And what is the difference between those according to you?
My work is Video art [db], not cinema, because there are no actors or stories told, but representations of metaphors and emotions. What is your next project about?
I have so many ideas in my head that I have no idea yet on what’s next!Copy the interview with Cristina Pavesi
