Leon Sarantos
Leon Sarantos graduated from the College of Arts and Architecture at the University of Michigan. He lives in Chicago and has taken classes at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Hyde Park Art Center. Artworks by Leon Sarantos include several artistic styles that he has explored over the years, with his recent paintings combining elements of both representational and abstract art. His genres include still-life, landscapes and cityscape paintings, as well as figurative and portrait art. He has recently expanded his art to include cityscape photographs of people and places in Chicago. His art has been exhibited in many solo and group exhibits in the Midwestern U.S. Recently, his cityscape painting of ''Bond Chapel'' received first prize at the South Side Impressions group exhibit at the Beverly Art Center in Chicago. This May his ''Still LIfe With Mannequin Hand'' won the Best of Show award at the CornerStone Art Center and Gallery in Indiana. He was also a recent Artslant Showcase Winner for his abstract painting, ''Mexican Roadtrip''. His triptych painting, ''Dawn Twilight - The Sun, The Moon, The Stars'' received special recognition in The Elements Art Exhibition on the Online Gallery - Light, Space & Time this November, as did his figurative painting,'' Suzanne in Repose'', this past December. He is currently represented by Paul Henry's Art Gallery, Hammond, Indiana.
