The sixth edition ends here. After 18 days, 18 diverse video programs, a Sound program and the 2D exhibit, the time has come to close the curtain and move onto our future plans.

The Malaventura’s audiovisual sampler consist in a complex set up of software & hardware where through a midi controller its possible to launch audio-visual material in the same manner like a music sampler launch audio clips.

You might remember Sean Dunne’s film The Archive which was nominated last year for the Left Field Award, well this year we’re honoured to have yet another great work from him on show, so we decided to do an interview and highlight his latest film American Juggalo today on the sixth edition of the Streaming Festival.

Have a look at the all new 2D exhibit premièring this edition. With ample video and sound art on show this year, we could only imagine that a silent counterpart would benefit the festival’s experience for artists and audience alike.

During the opening on the 1st of December in The Hague, one of the artists that were screened (Evo Preisner), was attentive enough to bring his camera, and film an impression of the opening, resulting in a six-minute clip with mixed images and added sound.

We are excited to introduce this year’s review committee, formed by a select group of audio-visual professionals who kindly accepted our invitation to review films for this sixth edition of the Streaming Festival.

Big news! The Streaming Festival programs of the 6th edition are finally available and their content can now be checked on our website. Over 200 films and video artists have been carefully selected and arranged into 18 different programs, ranging from documentaries to experimental works, as well as animations, installations and many more.

You probably noticed that the For a change program is still live and running. We have decided to extend the program for a little more than usual.
Because we’re enjoying a good program (obviously), but also because on the 10th of November we will start with the interlude to the 6th edition by showing previews & trailers which will be shown at the festival starting on the 1st of December.

MurderCapitalTV is an initiative of the Hotmix Foundation based in The Hague. Hotmix started way back in the 1990 as a record import company which in no time grew into a production house, hosting numerous record labels and doing it’s own distribution.

The title ‘About the human condition’ is a quotation from an essay by Magnus af Petersens on video artist Keren Cytter whose work is a an inspiration for this project and my own practice. It looks at the complicated concept of human nature –those cliché yet inevitable notions of love, trust, betrayal, and moral choice and exploring them through the cinematic medium. These works are touching and intimate, unsettling yet accessible.

This year we’re doing things slightly differently. Instead of exclusively screening films, there’ll also be showcases for 2d art, flash and an audio program. Moreover, we’ve decided to open the call for online submissions again. So, no more need for post and stamps. Just place a link to your preview, and that’s that.
