Now officially open: the 6th edition of the Streaming Festival!This year’s edition features about 300 video works of art, including sound art and 2dimensional works. The 6th edition is available until 18th December.East Meets West NWEAMO
For its 12th season NWEAMO teams up with the Tribeca New Music Festival (NYC) to present a taste of both coasts and a fresh look at “new” music. As usual, NWEAMO skirts the boundaries between popular and the avant gard - pieces this year range from acoustic J-Pop-esque video soundtrack (full ensemble including hand bell choir) to pulsing Einsteinien beach, South American Berimbau, gorgeous chamber ensembles and a work for piano virtuoso and infomercial. Even though the fifth edition ended a couple of days ago, and there are no films screened anymore on the Streaming Festival, we still receive a range of diverse and fascinating works of art through the Streaming Stills project. Alice Arnold and Steven Ceraso reviews

This is the first time ever that we screen a film that isn’t actually "on" the festival, but on an external website. And with good reason, because this film is an interactive web-based flick that is dependent on user input to move on, in and out to advance towards the plot. Streaming stills continued

From 11 to 23 December, following the closing of the Streaming Festival, an isfth curated program "She shot pretty nice windmills" will be shown at the [.BOX] in Milan, Italy.
The [.BOX] opening on Wednesday 1st of December
From 18.30 till 21.00 you are invited to join with our Italian friends at the [.BOX] in Milan, Italy to celebrate the opening of the 5th edition.
On this occasion you can expect to see the opening program from the Streaming Festival, with films from Dalibor Baric, Jorge Garcia, Ashleigh Nankivell and more.
The mind from nowhere
It’s getting darker, colder and mistier. Obviously we’re getting closer to the start of the 5th edition of the Streaming Festival in December.
But before we’re actually there, here’s Dalibor Baric for the whole month of November with a selection of his mind blowing films. Gokhan Okur
This months program is a collection of five animations made by artist Gökhan Okur.
Working mainly as an illustrator, Okur experimented by adding time to his illustrations.
From these experiments the animations occurred.
His animation Last train ride was featured in our first edition of the festival in 2006. We’re proud to welcome him back with the première of his latest work: "Off the phone". Home sweet home videos wanted
Art, experimental and performance videos dealing with the theme of "Home Sweet Home" are wanted for the International Performance and Videoart Festival.
Johnny Amore is creating a selection for “Home Sweet Home”, an Videoart Festival from the 9-10th July, organized by GlogauAir at Werkstatt der Kulturen in Berlin Neukölln.
Within the Videoart works there will be a selection of 2 winners for the:
“Ámister Art Friendly Award” who will receive an invitation for a weekend in Barcelona to participate in the Loop Video Art Fair 2011.
Student edition is now streaming until 19 November
The Streaming Festival Student Edition is a platform for college level Art students (undergraduate and graduate) to exhibit, prepare, speak out and receive feedback for their works that examine the medium of video and experimental film.
Students and staff will have a chance to comment on any of the works within the programs aimed at creating an exchange of opinions, ideas and information.
Opening 20 November
The opening of the Streaming Festival, and the Streaming Stills exhibition will be held on 20 November 2009 in BH139.

4th edition coming soon
With three weeks to go till the start of the 4th edition, there won’t be a special program this month, but highlights, interviews and trailers.
This week we’ll introduce some new events that are being organized on the occasion of the 4th edition, like the photography exhibition at BH139 (20 - 27 Nov, The Hague), special Streaming Festival programs at the State-x festival at the Paard van Troje (11 - 12 Dec, The Hague) and for the first time our own student streaming festival edition. The One Take Film Festival is an international festival of films shot in one take, that is films shot without interruption, from the moment of turning the camera on to the moment of turning the camera off. The One Take Film Festival eliminates a seemingly indispensable part of a film - namely, editing - and thus prohibits cut, dissolve, fade in/out and all other types of transitions. Third edition ends here!

In previous editions of the festival we gathered information from artists about their video art and films and made this accessible to the public. Seeing how that information quickly expanded, and is still expanding, we realized a different approach to store and maintain the data would be imminent. Hence, we decided to create the video art database.The video art database holds all kinds of information, from interviews, reviews to new-media articles and artists biographies.However, its main focus is to create a complete as possible overview of the audio visual art and the artists that were screened on the Streaming Festival.
