Dragons of Iceland
I enjoyed Elizabeth Riley’s experimental video work. Dragons of Iceland is a fun, colorful tension building work. Juxtapozed by transitioning images that are based on artistic process we feel the repetition of movement, a strong principle of design.
I like how the shapes and forms move freely as they compliment each other from various perspectives. I t makes me want to see the piece projected really large onto the surface of a wall. The transitions are smooth, and I enjoy how it fades into a large water fall.
A metaphor indeed, perhaps not intentional, but I read that as something that is yet so beautiful, can also be very destruction, nature at its finest, a tension between the natural and the synthetic!
