3rd Streaming Festival edition available online and offline!

The 1st and 2nd Streaming Festival editions were broadcasted online only. With the 3rd edition we break that tradition, and expand our programs to be viewed offline too.

So the festival goes offline, but where and when?During the festival in October 2008, ArtiKraak and the Streaming Festival will organise a screening exhibition. This offline event will take place in one of the ArtiKraak spaces in The Hague - The Netherlands.

We have always claimed that an online broadcast, through streaming servers, is what we want to explore and make accessible to an international public. Viewing online means that the festival is close to an individual experience. From any location in the world, viewers can plug into a streaming server by clicking a button and start watching films. Even though that's exactly how we like it, we realized that sooner or later offline locations would be our next step in exploring these possiblities.

Some films are made for the big screen, others are made to be presented on smaller remote screens. The viewer is compelled to appreciate the work in the manner they choose; individually, together with friends, colleagues or other film enthusiasts, occasionally in situations where they can collectively view the film in a cinema situation as an audience.

By expanding the festival to have physical locations along with the personal online theaters, we want to create this contrasted opportunity for both the public and artists.

In this adventure we collaborate with ArtiKraak, a foundation for contemporary art based in The Netherlands. Artikraak organizes art events in disused buildings. They are actively looking for new encounters, cross-overs and energy which they provide space for, thereby stimulating and encouraging creative works.

Interviews with artists

Want to know more about an artist screened at the Streaming Festival and google didn't help you out?
Well, the interviews from the first edition in 2006 are back online.
It took us this long to put the interviews back together because of technical difficulties right after the first edition. Most interviews came unscratched out of the mayhem, however some turned indefinitely to dust.
Nonetheless, there are still more than 90 interviews available.

What about interviews with artists from the second edition in 2007? No worries, we are currently working hard on finishing those, as well as some other new features on the website. This is scheduled to go live somewhere between half December 2007 and January 2008.
