Three days walking at a moderately slow tempo through the beautiful city of Praha with a Go Pro HD and a few Czech koruna in my pocket.
Filmed spontaneously with a sense of lightness and freedom (no reflex, no tripod, no accessories, no lenses)...handheld ...sometimes using small walls for time lapse.
Color correction in FCP and MBL.

Interview

Who is Vitùc?

A passionate non-professional filmmaker.

What is Praha’dante about?

Impressions about the city of Prague.

How did you start with film? And do you have an educational background in art or film?

I am autodidact and I started filming simple everyday life.

Could you explain how you work, what themes or concepts you use and what is important to you?

Everything is inspiration is my motto.
I assemble pieces of puzzles which final image is often unknown to me.

How long do you usually work on one project?

I work very fast like making an sketch on a paper or an expressionist painting.
Simplicity and minimalism....
In my mind I see what I want to capture... While I am shooting I can see the editing style that will follow ...and in post-production it’s the music that gives me the energy to accomplish my work.

Do you carefully plan the production process or do you work more intuitive?

Intuitive....like a child.

How does the title relate to the work, and how do you find a fitting title?

The title is very important for me.
I take all my time to find a title that goes to my film.
The title must be mysterious and in the same time it must have a meaning.

How do you finance your projects (by yourself, sponsors or subsidy)?

By myself.

How important is sound in film, and if you use sounds, do you create your own or use existing?

Mostly natural sounds.

How would you describe contemporary videoart?

No opinion.

Did the web changed your view on art, or your career?

Yes...especially the site Vimeo...a site where every artist is sharing original and interesting works.
Very inspiring!

Where would you place your work; cinema or art. And what is the difference between those according to you?

I would it place in the world of art.
Because most of my work are experiments and experiments are part of the world of art.
Because my works are like expressionist or impressionist paintings.
Because my works are simple.
Because art belongs to everyone.
Because art is inspiring an inspiration creates art.
Because art can be done alone and without money.
Because art is spontaneous.
Cinema is like a factory made by a minority of artists that have made their way first in the world of art.

How important is the reaction to your film by the audience?

Films are made to be watched.
Films is an expression to show, a story to be understood, an closed door to be opened, a mystery to discover, a feeling to share a cry to be heard...a loss of balance or orientation.
The reaction of the audience is a like a the counterbalance.

What is your next project about?

A short film called "Frames" and 2 music clips.
