Who is Günther Gheeraert?
Hey ! I’m Günther a.k.a Mister Gü. I’m a Director, Motion Designer, Blogger, Wordpress user & Apple addict from Paris.
What is Ganesh spirits about?
Ganesh Spirit is a video about my travel in Thaïland, where I meet great people and beautiful landscapes. I try to capture the real spirit of this awesome country.
How did you start with film? And do you have an educational background in art or film?
I start as a motion designer at Vente-privee.com, the original online sale events club in Europe. Before I was 2D level designer at Atari for video games, and a graphic designer, but I learned by myself all about video.
Could you explain how you work, what themes or concepts you use and what is important to you?
I work with my own material, a 5D Mkii and a GoPro HD. I love landscapes, people portraits, poetic moods.
The most important for me is to give a real and true emotion through my videos.
How long do you usually work on one project?
Usually I make a video on 1 or 2 weeks.
Do you carefully plan the production process or do you work more intuitive?
I work very intuitive on Ganesh Spirit because I didn’t know this country, and everywhere it was new for me, so I try to capture every moment, every landscape. It was really pleasant for me.
How does the title relate to the work, and how do you find a fitting title?
I would like to show the spirit of these beautiful places, the spirit of this people.
I think I can’t find an other place like thailand to show that.
Where do you get your ideas or inspiration from?
I love Bruno Aveillan works. He’s a famous french director and director of photography, and his works inspired me a lot.
How important is sound in film, and if you use sounds, do you create your own or use existing?
The sound is as important as images. Maybe more. Music is universal. I use "De Ushuaia a la Quiaca" from Gustavo A. Santaolalla, which is the compositor of Babel and Brokeback Mountain movies music tracks.
How does content relate to the form of your work?
Interesting question... I wonder myself everyday :)
What possibilities of the web are yet to be explored?
An infinity !
Did the web changed your view on art, or your career?
Today the web has even changed my vision of world !
Where would you place your work; cinema or art. And what is the difference between those according to you?
Cinema is Art. But I just make little videos, not cinema, even if I would like to make movies.... Maybe one day !
How influential is the reaction to your film by the audience?
My video was watched 20, 000 times in a week ! So I was very impressed by the power of the web !
Thanks again to everyone !
What is your next project about?
My next projects are a travel in London, and maybe Bogota for a great video around the world ...
