This film was made during a short automatic filmmaking residency for airspace, stoke-on-trent. the central idea of the project is that the process of filmmaking is out of my immediate control. much of the films are created by chance interactions between self powered automata and camera carrying devices and the space into which they are introduced. these actors seldom perform as expected: breaking, failing and surprising in turn. the ensuing films are always highly local and contingent relying almost totally on whatever is to hand. then & there introduces a number of new characters to the project including a colony of twitching socks and a tantrum machine.
