Chus Domínguez - Silent karaoke

7:10, 2010

Synopsis: “Sometimes, in trying to get to the essence, one loses sight of the essential”.
A karaoke in which the performer has to add something more than his voice. (This piece is part of a previous project, the short documentary "O tempo dos Bullos" (“Chesnuts season”) (Chus Domínguez, 2005, 10 min.) recorded in the mountain village of O Courel in Lugo (Spain). The stories told by some of the women of the village as well as the experiences of the team during the recording in relation to the discrimination suffered by women of the valley, were not reflected in the work. Five years later, the director of that film decides to treat this subject with the artist and poet Silvia Zayas. In the same way that documentary that the decision was made to avoid the issue of violence of any kind against women, to recover it has been decided to use the recorded material but not used then, in particular recordings of the mountainous landscapes surrounding the village).
