On this day 13 young men disappeared. To this day there is no trace of them. The bridge never revealed her secret. The aim of this film is to produce a memorial for those people and other victims of the war by means of a movie.

Interview

Who is Haris Bilajbegovic?
Haris Bilajbegovic was born on the 8th of September 1978 in Villach (Austria).
His parents, Fadila and Muharem come from Bosnia and Herzegovina and live in Austria since 1973. After he has finished his compulsory education he made a teaching profession as bricklayer. He absolved his profession with success.
Haris wanted to make more exciting things in his life, so he attended stunt- and drama school in Cologne (Germany) in 1999, and after that he attended in Villach the drama school „Studio Orange“.
Haris made the stuntman apprenticeship easily, almost secondary. After that he started to attend the University of Klagenfurt, to study journalism and communication science. He got his master-degree in 2005.

In his thesis he dealed with the communication behavior in the chinese martial art „WingTsun“, an art of self-defense, where he is a trainer. Although a thesis takes a lot of time, Haris made it to attend additionally the drama-school „Neue Bühne Villach” by intendant Michael Weger.

His first bigger success was the role „Kolja“ in a episode of „Kommissar Rex“ named „Someone always dies“ in the year 2002. There he plays an dubious Russian.
Already one year later he took place in a film, directed by oscar winner Pepe Danquart, beside popular actors like Henry Hübchen, Corinna Harfouch, Moritz Bleibtreu, Karl Heinz Hackl, Roland Düringer, Josef Hader, Cornelius Obonya and others in the movie „C(r)ook“, which came into Austrian cinemas in 2004. As a bodyguard, Haris is protecting the “Maffiaboss” Karl Heinz Hackl.
In 2003 Haris took part in an author competition. His screenplay was ranked in the top three. The story „Most“ („The Bridge“) is telling a true story from the war of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992.
At that time some young men disappeared. One of them was his 18 year old uncle, a Bosnian shepherd. The bridge didn’t ever reveal her secret.

In February of 2005 he played a role in the movie „The Orange Paper“ and in march of 2005 he was main(speaking)part for a fastfood concern. He played a „cool customer“, who presented the new „Big Kebab“ for Mc Donald’s in a funny way.

After Haris played his role in the Mc Donald’s commercial with a lot of professionalism and discipline, the success of the campaign was not a surprise.
Additionally the music in the commercial, produced by Ticmusic was requested that much, that Clemens Kloss, director and musicproducer of Ticmusic Vienna, decided to produce an own song with Haris.

The song „SÜPURMANIA“ discusses all youth stereotypes in Vienna and contains in a charming way also non-accentless german.
In this song Vienna, which has meanwhile turned into a multicultural city, is praised in a cool way.

Your film is about?
MOST - THE BRIDGE ...based on true events...
Most of the people who took part in the film experienced this terrible happening in 1992. A main character in the movie is played by my grandfather (Mumin KADIRIC). He was forced to leave his son, my uncle (Elvir KADIRIC), behind on this bridge.
On this day 13 young men disappeared. To this day there is no trace of them. The bridge never revealed her secret.
The aim of this film is to produce a memorial for those people and other victims of the war by means of a movie. They should never be forgotten...

How did you start with film? And do you have an educational background in art or film?
First of all I started 2003 with a screenplay contest in Austria. MOST - THE BRIDGE was awarded on this contest.

Yes, I have a background as an actor - but MOST - THE BRIDGE is my first film as a director!

Could you explain how you work, what themes or concepts and what is important to you?
You know - this was my first project and I do it with a "learning by doing - concept".

There is one thing you should know: with taking part at a festival with MOST - THE BRIDGE, I achieved a big aim. That a large audience can see the message of my film is already a victory for me. The victims of wars should never be forgotten and hopefully my film contributes something to it.

How do you finance your projects (by yourself, sponsors or subsidy)?
Due to the fact, that my film was payed by myself. It was my biggest dream to make a memorial for my uncle (Elvir KADIRIC) and for the other victims of wars.

New Media; a challenge for film makers?
Maybe - I don’t know - it was my first film!

YouTube? Why or why not?
I think its okay when you download a trailer of a movie - for the advertisement etc.

Does your work often circle the festival circuits, and do you visit festivals regularly?
I started to submit my film at Dec. 2006. There are a lot of film festivals and so I do it also to this time :-). I will submit my film to Dec. 2008.

Due to the fact, that my film was payed by myself, so I don’t have the money for the travel. For me and my film is it better, to invest in other submissions by film festivals. That a large audience can see the message of my film is already a victory for me.

Do you often meet and discuss with other film makers through the internet?
Yes, when i submit my film and when my movie is selected at a festival.

How influential is the reaction to your film by the audience?
In Austria I visit all festivals and the reaction of MOST - THE BRIDGE is very positive.

What is your next project about?
I have 3 storys (from Bosnia and Herzegovina) - based on true events. The aim of the project is, to tell all 3 storys in one movie.
The first step is - to get a sponsorship for the next project.
